Postdoctoral Associate

University of Florida - University Writing Program (UWP)

  • Designed and executed two original and creatively themed critical thinking and writing classes using ADDIE model.

  • Utilized varied eLearning methods to transition from classroom to online learning during COVID-19 crisis, employing synchronous video conferencing and asynchronous video recordings paired with evaluative activities.

  • Solicited student feedback in order to tailor material to ensure efficacy of instruction.

  • Achieved higher mean student evaluation scores than UWP, College, and University averages.

  • Courses Taught: Professional Writing, Strategic Communication, and Analytical Writing and Thinking. Three to four courses per semester, 15-20 students per class.

Lead Teaching Assistant & Graduate Fellow

2013-2019

University of Southern California - School of Cinematic Arts (SCA)

  • Supervised logistics and handled clerical and administrative duties for lecture classes of up to 650+ students.

  • Oversaw and conducted orientation and training for teams of up to eighteen Teaching Assistants (TAs).

  • Updated training materials and reference guides for TA staff.

  • Conducted performance evaluations of TA staff; offered pedagogical coaching and mentorship and took disciplinary action when necessary.

  • Created master lesson plans and multimedia visual aids & established and maintained a digital Dropbox of resources for TA staff in order to facilitate, standardize, and improve team instruction.

  • Updated course materials for flagship SCA courses (Introduction to Cinema & Theatrical Film Symposium) to ensure compliance with General Education requirements and respond to student feedback.

  • Organized and headed review sessions and writing workshops for groups of 50+ students, in addition to preparing complementary study guides and handouts.

  • Prepared venue space and oversaw crowd management for large events (300+ people) featuring high-profile guests.

  • Addressed student complaints and resolved issues between students, faculty, and TAs.

  • Balanced instructional responsibilities with coursework and research while earning Ph.D.
